From the Principal
It has been a fun week here at STM, the students have really enjoyed hitting the pool at Monbulk for our yearly swimming program. We have also had our Book Fair for Book Week, each class has had the chance to visit the Book Fair and purchase some new books. As mentioned in previous editions of the newsletter, we have moved our Book Week dress up day to Monday 26th of August as things would have been messy with swimming this week.
Last Thursday we attended mass as a whole school for the Feast of the Assumption. In Catholic teachings, Mary the Mother of Jesus was assumed into Heaven body and soul. The students did an amazing job in Church and Father Cruz made special mention of the readers and also the student's singing.
I do understand that parents are busy and life sometimes has lots of things coming our way, but I encourage families to take 10-15 minutes per week to read the newsletter. We have different staff contributing to different sections of the newsletter, so information is not always on one tab. I encourage you to read all the different sections. We are a busy little school and I try my best to keep families up to date (I know I am not perfect), but ask families to make a concerted effort to read each week.
If you are relocating or plan on changing schools in 2025, I would ask that families inform me sooner rather than later. This information allows more accurate planning. I am hoping all families return in 2025, but if this is not the case I do ask for this conversation to happen ASAP.
Just a note for parents that Term 3 ends on Friday, September 20th at 3:10pm. Term 4 will begin on Monday 7th of October. These dates have been added the the "Important Dates and Upcoming Events" tab. There are numerous closure days in Term 4, parent feedback from the SAC last year was families were thankful for the closure days being close together on Friday's and Monday's. I have tried to do this again. These dates can also be found under the Important Dates tab.
School Disco:
It was an amazing evening last Thursday as the students partied the night away at our school disco. A huge thank you to our parent helpers on the evening, the night would not have been possible without you all. A special mention to Meaghan Elkin and Vanessa Del Monaco who put so much time and effort into preparing the night for our students. Thank you so much!
School Swimming:
A huge thank you to Mrs Wicks for organising our school swimming program for 2024. Considering the many moving parts of swimming week, the students and staff did a fantastic job and the kids seemed to have mostly enjoyed the experience.
Father's Day Stall:
The PnF have been working incredibly hard to organise the upcoming Father's Day stall on Friday 30th of August. There was a call out for volunteers on the Parents and Friends Facebook group a few weeks ago.
Sporting Achievements:
Well done to a couple of our awesome year 6 students who have excelled in their team sports recently. Wills P and his footy team won their Grand Final, a great effort after finishing runners up last year.
Isabella D and her Cheerleading team recently placed first in their most recent AASCF competition. Well done Bella and your team.
It is awesome to hear stories of our students excelling outside of school. If you have any stories to share, please let me know.
