Principal's Report
We have been blessed this week with a taste of the spring weather which is fast approaching. It's hard to believe we are already halfway through term 3. So much has happened and yet there is still plenty of action to come before the end of term. On Wednesday evening, we held a Cyber safety night. Even though I am fully armed with many online safety tips and skills, nights like these continue to provide us all with a great deal of valuable information, including the latest statistics and ongoing research in this space. A big thank you to Grant Fitzgerald from CES Ltd for his insightful presentation and the parents and children who came along to ensure their understanding and level of awareness of Cyber safety continues to evolve in this ever changing world we live in. “Be careful how you live. Be wise and intelligent, not silly and ignorant. Make good use of every day to do the will of the Lord.” These are the opening words of this coming week's Gospel, words that are very fitting when we consider some of the online behaviours and habits that are adopted by many in society. If you have a child in Grade 4-6 and didn’t attend our Cyber night I urge you to come along next time. In the essence of the gospel message, such an evening will also help to teach them how to be good disciples.
This coming Wednesday 21st August, around 50 students from Holy Rosary will represent the school at the Bendigo Catholic Schools Athletics Carnival at the Retreat Road complex. We wish them all the very best for a fun action filled day. In addition, we thank Mr Coates for his efforts in preparing our students for their events.
Finally, our annual book week parade also takes place next week. This year’s theme is Reading is Magic and on Friday we will gather under the COLA at 9.15 am to showcase all the wonderful costumes that our students and staff will be wearing. This day is always filled with a lot of excitement and joy. We encourage parents to come along, a coffee van will be available if you would like to purchase a drink and spend some time with other parents before the parade, and we will be opening the classrooms for some reading and book week activities for a short time after the parade.
Happy sewing, borrowing, shopping and/or creating.
Enjoy the weekend!
