Principal's Message

Mr Tom Bagnall

Wow! How is Term 3 already over halfway gone! This week has been amazing, with our Book Parade on Monday, it was excellent to see students dressed up as characters from their favourite books, and to see the conversation that this generated! Thank you to all families and students that participated and came to watch!

Unfortunately, we won't get to complete the week with our Athletics carnival, as due to the impending weather forecast for tomorrow, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the carnival until Wednesday 4 September.

Year 6 Camp

Last week, our Year 6 students attended their camp at Ern Halliday in Hillarys. The students have been telling everyone all about it since their return, and thoroughly enjoyed their time there. Some of the activities that were undertaken definitely pushed the students (and staff) out of their comfort zones, but they all rose to the challenge and gave it a go!

A huge thank you to Ms Henriques, Mr Lee, Ms O’Leary and Mr Ward for volunteering their time to attend and to support students during the 3 days!

Open Evening

On Wednesday 11 September, we will be holding our Open Evening from 4pm – 6pm. During this time, classrooms will be open for families to have a look at the work and activities that students have been working on this term. On this day, you are also welcome to explore some of the other classrooms in the school to visit former teachers or see what kinds of activities might be in store for next year.

Whilst there is time for informal conversations with teachers, this is not the time for in depth meetings regarding student progress, and if you would like to discuss these things, you are encouraged to make a formal meeting time so that these questions can be addressed more privately.

Our Book Fair organized by Mrs Preston will also be taking place on this night and will be held in the library.

2025 Planning

Planning for 2025 is well underway and we are currently working through the expected enrolments. As part of this, we are asking any families that are likely to be leaving Marangaroo PS at the end of this year to let us know as soon as possible. Early planning around this will allow us to recruit teachers and identify the most suitable classroom structure for next year, and hopefully mean that families and students can be notified earlier of class placements.

If you have any questions around this, please contact the office.

Upcoming Dates – Term 3

A few dates to be aware of over the coming weeks are:

30 August – Fathers Day Breakfast

11 September – Open Night at Marangaroo PS

20 September – Last Day of Term 3 / Kookaburras Assembly

I hope that everyone has a fantastic end to the week, and as always, please feel free to come in and speak with me if you have any questions or concerns.
