ICT

with Mrs Pask

This term in ICT students in Prep have been learning about computer coding. Playing games online and in person they have learnt that an algorithm is a sequence of steps for carrying out instructions.

In Year 1 students have had the opportunity to create a range of digital information while applying safe practices to protect themselves and others as they interact online.

In Year 1, 2 and 3 students have been learning all about coding, beginning to understand what code is, why we use it and the different things we can do with code. Year 2 students have been writing and debugging algorithms online and in person. Year 3 students have even coded their own mini games to share with each other.

Year 4 students have been busy creating 3D designs to print in our 3D printers. Using their creativity, they have followed a design process to create a box that can hold stationary.

Year 5 students have been learning about the magic of movie making, planning, scripting, storyboarding, filming and editing. Students are well on their way to creating some excellent viewing.

Year 6 students have begun to learn and understand the binary number system, counting, writing code and even creating artwork with binary numbers.

This week we were excited to welcome our grandparents into ICT and share some of the incredible things we have learnt so far this term.
