I hope all families had a lovely Fathers' Day. It was a great way to celebrate the special people in our children's lives.
Book Week: What a wonderful time we are having celebrating Book Week! We had some fantastic book characters represented yesterday as we had lots of fun and learning about books! The 'Book Trivia' that we played in our Peer Support Groups was great fun and a very special 'thank you' to Mrs Garnon for the huge amount of effort she put into organising this terrific day!
Musica Viva: Each year the Music and Drama teachers prepare our students for a visit from a group of touring musicians who, this year, will be visiting our school on Tuesday 17th September. During their performance, our students will engage with the goup and consolidate the learning they have been experiencing over the past term. This year the touring group is "Moon Radio Hour". This group will take students on an imaginative fast-paced journey through space, time and the unexpected! Paired with saxophones, guitars and an electronic sampler, the result is a spontaneously immersive musical experience where anything is possible!! We look forward to welcoming "Moon Radio Hour" to McAuley and using our imagination as we work with them throughout the day.
TIPIAC - Teaching Indigenous Perspectives in the Australian Curriculum: We are excited to be participating in a new initiative by the Catholic Education Office in line with developing our understanding and appreciation of our First Nation people. This course allows Teachers to develop a deeper understanding of mandatory policies (Aboriginal Education Policy), priorities and curriculum outcomes and expectations in regard to building a school culture that embeds Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into curriculum programs across all key learning areas. Through the elements of this course, it is hoped to expand our teacher's confidence in delivering authentic, age and culturally appropriate First Nation perspectives in our classrooms and schools. TIPIAC will also help teachers to develop practical activities which support First Nations culture that can implemented into our lessons each day.
Kinder Visual Screening: This week we have the team from Hansons Optometrist visiting and conducting visual screening tests on our Kinder students. This free service was offered earlier this year and permission forms have been returned. Often students who are having difficulty with learning their letters and breaking words into sounds will have some form of issue with their sight. This free screening offers the opportunity to have our Kinder children checked and if problems exist, parents will be contacted and a course of action suggested to help the children. A very special 'thank you' to Hansens for coming to McAuley and conducting this screening.
Year 3 Plays: Just a little advanced notice of the Year 3 Plays which will be held in Kenna Hall on Friday 20th September, Week 9. Times will be given closer to the performance. Parents, carers, families and friends are very welcome to join us for these wonderful plays!
Have a wonderful week!
God Bless,
