From the Principal Team

Thank you to our wonderful GEC community for all that you do to support our wonderful school.  In this edition you will see many celebrations of student work and achievement.

We currently have 10 students and 3 staff from schools in Ogaki Japan being hosted by our wonderful families.  I am very grateful to all involved who are making this trip so memorable.

Thank you also to the team from the wider GEC community – Cathy McNaughton, Ross McNaughton, Paul McNeill and Emmanuelle Missios.

BYOD Program 2025

In 2025 we are replacing the Chromebook program at Year 7-9 with a BYOD program. This will provide greater flexibility for families and improved access to applications. Chromebooks are still welcome to be used in this BYOD program.

This program includes most laptops, including Chromebooks. However, tablets or iPads are not included in the program.

Courage to Care

Year 7 students will attend an incursion on Wednesday 28th August with Courage to Care - an educational program about the importance of standing up to discrimination, empowering each of us to confront prejudice and bullying. Taking inspiration from real-life extraordinary acts of courage by ordinary people, the Upstander Programs inspire people to make a difference by standing up and taking action.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Bookings for Years 7 - 10 parent teacher interviews will be available on XUNO closer to the date.

Years 7 – 10 interviews will be held online via Webex on Tuesday 17th September, 2.15pm – 6:30pm.

Please note that on the last day of term students will be dismissed at 2.30pm

If you have any wonderings, concerns or feedback, please do not hesitate to call me at the school to talk or arrange a time to meet.

Uniform Policy

The uniform policy aims to creates a sense of collective and individual pride in our school as well as giving our students a sense of belonging, order and security.

In addition, the uniform policy fosters equality for all students. It supports our young people to prepare for expectations in the work place and assists in eliminating peer group pressure.

We appreciate your support in encouraging your child to follow our Uniform Policy. Students should have a note from home if on any given day they are unable to comply with the uniform policy. Your support assists our staff to implement the uniform policy as endorsed by school council.

Students and families can reach out to our school uniform subcommittee (sub-committee of school council) to bring proposals for changes to the uniform policy. Please contact Chizuko Inoue-Andersson.
