Mathematics:

This week in Maths, we are learning to explore division. 

VOCABULARY

Division - Splitting or dividing objects into equal groups.

Equal - having the same amount.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

Ask your child to go and collect a group of their favourite toys and put them on the ground in between you both. Ask your child to share the toys equally between themselves and you. Discuss what would be a fair way to do this to make sure you both get the same amount. Once you have shared all of the toys, count each group to check that you have both received the same amount.

You can change this activity up by adding or removing the number or toys or adding more people that they need to share the toys between. 

In addition to last week's task, now have your child draw a representation of this using pencils/paper/iPads etc. *Applying mathematical knowledge to a drawn representation is a more challenging task for children to do.
