Principal's Report

Welcome Back

Welcome back to the 2026 school year. I hope the summer break provided time to rest, reconnect and reset as we begin another year together at Marlborough Primary School.

As we start the year, our focus is on reconnection by re-establishing routines, strengthening relationships and setting high expectations for our learning environments. The early weeks of Term 1 are an important time for settling, and it has been wonderful to see students returning with enthusiasm and a strong sense of belonging.

I would also like to extend a very warm welcome to our new Prep families. We were so excited to see our Prep students arrive for their first day of school last Thursday. It was wonderful to see so many parents and carers able to share this important milestone with their child. The first days of Prep have been terrific, and we are very proud of how confidently the students have settled in. A huge thank you to our Prep teachers, and to our families, for preparing and supporting such a smooth transition into school life.

Get to Know You Conversations – Reminder

A reminder that Get to Know You Conference will take place on Wednesday 18 February.

These conversations are designed to create a space for meaningful dialogue between families and teachers early in the year.

Conferences can be requested online or in person. Bookings are made through Compass, and I encourage families to check Compass and secure a time if you have not already done so.

Yard Duty Supervision Policy

Families are reminded that Marlborough Primary School grounds are supervised by school staff from 8:45am until 3:45pm.

Students should not arrive on school grounds before 8:30am unless they are attending before school care. From 8:30am to 8:45am, students may be onsite but must be supervised by a parent or carer. School supervision begins at 8:45am, and students should aim to arrive between 8:45am and 9:00am.

Outside of supervised hours, school staff are not available to supervise students. If your child is picked up after 3:45pm, they must be enrolled in and attend our out-of-hours care program with TheirCare.

We appreciate families’ support in ensuring these arrangements are followed to support a child safe environment for all students.

Assembly Reminder

This week we will hold our first assembly of the year at 3:00pm on Friday.

This will be another important first for our Prep students, and a special moment for our new student leaders, who will lead their first assembly and be presented with their leadership badges.

Assemblies may be held either in the undercover area near the flag poles or in the Specialist Hub, depending on the weather. Families are warmly invited to attend. Assemblies are open to our community throughout the year, and we look forward to welcoming you back onsite.

Uniform Policy Update

Our updated Student Dress Code Policy is now available. This outlines the school’s expectations regarding student uniform and presentation, including compulsory and non-compulsory items, and the full uniform range.

Please note that Grade 5 and 6 students now have a sports top for inter-school sport competitions, school sporting events and sports training.

School Council has spent time refining this policy to ensure it reflects our community’s expectations, while also considering affordability and accessibility for families.
