Facilities – WHAT A WEEK!

After the ‘big blow’ on Tuesday afternoon, we have had some damage to trees, fences, carpet, electrics and roofing which is currently under repair/ removal.

The works have involved the coordination of many services, including tree specialists, plumbers, damp testers, roofing specialists, insurance agencies, emergency services, electricians, Department of Education emergency response teams, and more.

I would like to acknowledge the many, many offers of help from parents in our school community, and a special thanks to parents who came and raked the soft fall under playgrounds in the rain on Wednesday morning before playtimes, and to Adam Summersett, who cleared walkways from tree debris and cordoned off areas to ensure student safety. Also to Brian Hogan who came and cleared paths and gutters, and to staff and students who have maintained a positive learning environment whilst dealing with power losses and carpet drying apparatus across the school.

We are well on the way to resolving all the challenges from Tuesday's storm, with tree specialists removing various branches and debris today from around the school. Some further ground level tree works are to be completed in the near future.

As communicated via Dojo on Tuesday afternoon, families who need any support can reach out to the school, particularly in instances where students may be anxious or affected from the impact of the storm. Staff at the school have spent time in each class allowing opportunities for students to share their stories and support where needed.
