Traffic safety reminders!

We want all school community members to be safe coming and going from school. Drop off and pick up times can be busy in Webster St and Nettle St with people arriving in cars and walking to and from parking spaces and crossing roads.

40kmh! You can help keep everyone be safe by adhering to the speed limit around our school.

Park in marked parking bays! Do not stop in an area that is marked 'No Stopping/Parking' and do not 'prop' and call out to your children and ask them to quickly get in as you are parked illegally!

Disabled parking bay is ONLY for people displaying a current disabled parking permit and the person the permit refers to is in the car.

School Crossing. As we have previously advised, our school crossing is no longer staffed. That means that families are using the crossing without someone being there to stop the traffic. Please be extra cautious when approaching the crossing and keep an eye out for children/families crossing the road or waiting to cross the road. Even though the flags aren't out and there isn't a supervisor, it is still a designated school crossing and you must behave accordingly.

Mobile phones at school.

A reminder that the Department of Education has in place a mobile phone ban that requires students who bring mobiles phones to school to have them switched off and securely put away during school hours.

This helps ensure that school is a learning environment free from unnecessary distractions and disruptions.

At our school, students who bring mobile phones to school must bring them to the office when they arrive at school and we will store the phone securely during theday. Once the bell has gone at the end of the day, students come past the office to collect their phone.

In the event of an emergency or if you need to immediately contact your child, I ask that families contact the school office who will pass on a message as required.

School mobile phone policy: A copy of our school’s local mobile phone policy, which implements the government’s mobile policy in line with our local context, is available here

Parent support: The Mobile phones in schools webpage provides links to resources for families to help them balance their children’s time using mobile phones.

NAPLAN.

This year, NAPLAN assessments start 13 March with, ideally, all assessments being finished by end of that week.

Parent information is available on our website

NAPLAN Thông tin dành cho cha mẹ và người chăm sóc

If you have any concerns about your child participating in NAPLAN testing, please see your child's teacher well before 13 March.

School photos.

Photo day is Thursday 29th. Please make sure your child comes to school in neat and tidy school uniform. The photographers will start with our F/1 grades so do your very  best to be on time!

Respecting our school uniform.

All our students are expected to wear school uniform and to show respect for their uniform items by looking after them. I have noticed we have a few students who have been writing over their hats. Please check your child's hat and if it has writing over it, take it home and they can give it a good scrub to get it clean, or they might need to spend some of their pocket money to buy a new one!

School Council elections.

Nomination forms will be available from the office on Tuesday 27th. We have three parent positions vacant. If you would like to know more about being on school council, let me know and I will either put you in touch with a current school councillor, or I can give you some information.

Have an enjoyable weekend!

Warm regards,

Carolyn.
