Who We Are

Year 1 - Term 1, 2024

Transdisciplinary Theme

'Who we are'

Central Idea

The decisions people make influence their relationships with each other

As an International Baccalaureate world school, authorised to teach the Primary Year’s Programme, we explore six transdisciplinary themes each year.

In this unit, the Year One students will be exploring the many relationships we form in our lives including friends, family and teachers.  They will look at the way we learn and interact in order to work harmoniously together. They will be evaluating their own decisions and the decisions of others in reference to developing positive relationships.

This unit will run throughout the year and include the Resilience Project and Cyber Safety lessons.

Concepts

  • Responsibility
  • Perspective

Lines of Inquiry

  • The attributes that can help us learn together
  • The way our interactions contribute to a harmonious classroom

Action

Action in the PYP is initiated independently by the student as a result of the learning process. Action may be bringing a book or artefact related to the inquiry to school, or student initiated drawings/posters/research. We celebrate our students’ ACTION every day in our classrooms. If you see your children taking independent action at home encourage them to share their action with their class.
