Year 4 Polly Woodside Excursion

Mariah Reed - Year 4 Team Leader

The Year 4 students had a fantastic time during our excursion to the Polly Woodside ship. Immersed in the maritime world, they learned about the life of sailors, actively participating in activities like scrubbing the deck and steering the ship. A highlight was stepping into the captain's quarters!

After lunch, we headed to Alexandra Gardens, where the students practised land navigation, locating various Melbourne landmarks. We were blessed with beautiful weather.

The students' respectful and enthusiastic behaviour was commendable throughout the day. A big thank you goes to our parent helpers, whose support made the excursion possible.

Year 2 Taskworks Incursion

Steph Farren - Year 2 Teacher

In Week 2, the Year 2 students participated in an incursion called Taskworks. During this incursion, students engaged in six rotations that required them to work in teams to build and create structures. The students partook in activities which involved deconstructing and reconstructing various objects such as a to-scale racecar, train and robot. They also developed a marble run with magnets and explored the friction of objects.

This incursion enabled students to develop skills of teamwork, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. The students had to use skills of communication and service to solve problems and work towards a shared goal. It was delightful to see the Year 2 students show a growth mindset as they gave everything a go and showed resilience when facing each challenge. It was a wonderful way to begin the year!
