Junior School

This week our Year 7s will be heading over to the Eltham Leisure Centre to engage in a range of activities designed to promote healthy, active lives. Students who attend will be issued with a pass to access the Eltham Leisure Centre for the rest of the term. This is a great way to connect with new friends after school.

Next week, our Year 7s will be meeting their Year 10 Peer Mentors and working together to get to know each other and to learn more about how they can use their laptops to support their learning. In addition to the Buddy Session on Monday, there will be a Buddy Breakfast on Friday March 1 – all Year 7s and 10s will be welcomed for breakfast.

On Wednesday 28 February, our parents and carers are invited for an afternoon tea to meet members of the Year 7 Teaching Team.

The session will run from 3:15pm to 4:25pm and will be an informal opportunity to put some names to faces and to learn more about the curriculum program and expectations for our Year 7s in Term 1. It will also be an opportunity to meet parents from your child's class. There will be a sausage sizzle run by the student leaders after the session for parents to catch up with each other. We hope to see you there.

A recording of the Meet the Teachers' key information will be shared via the Compass Dashboard for families who are unable to attend at this time.

Following on from the afternoon tea, there will be a session for parents from across the whole school.

Decoding School Refusal Behaviour - A Session for Concerned Parents!

This informative session is designed to support parents and carers of Eltham High School in understanding school disengagement and school refusal behaviour, recognising its signs, and learning effective intervention strategies. As parents and carers your involvement is crucial in addressing the issue of student disengagement, and early intervention plays a key role in nurturing your young person's resilience, overall wellbeing, and academic success. This session will be facilitated by Jessica Manzie, Secondary School Nurse (DE) and Madeline Gaitanis, Student Services Leader.
