Foundation News

On Friday, we celebrated 100 days of learning in Foundation. It has been an amazing 100 days and we are so proud of each of our students!
We have so much to celebrate including:
- learning school and classroom routines
- making new friends
- developing numeracy skills
- learning to read and write
- developing learning stamina
- building independence and so much more!
We have been counting to 100 in anticipation of this special milestone so it was only fitting that we began our celebrations by completing our count to 100 using tens frames and bundles of ten.
Children created their own '100 days' crowns and had their photos taken in their special outfit. There were so many creative costumes including uniquely designed '100' themed tops, capes and 'future job' dress ups. We'd like to extend a huge thank you to families for embracing this part of the day.
We were very excited to introduce our students to the new Foundation Library in the Davey building. Each class had a session in this newly reimagined space to begin exploring brand new books. We are very grateful to Genna for covering all of these books.
Of course, we had lots of Maths fun on our 100th day! Embracing our '100' theme, classes rotated through each of the Foundation classrooms to collect data, practice number recognition, counting and subitising.
After enjoying a movie together and lunch in the sunshine it was time for a big play before assembly. Following weeks of learning the lyrics, actions and building their confidence, the Foundation children delivered a fantastic performance of 'I'm On My Way' to a very appreciative audience. Back in the classroom, each child received a commemorative certificate to mark this special milestone in their first year of school.
We can't wait to see what will be achieved in our next 100 days!
