Cultural Understanding

This term, the Cultural Understanding School Improvement Team will be providing classrooms bitesize learning opportunities focused on aspects of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, including native animals, plants, significant people and places. These mini lessons will be shared by classroom teachers fortnightly, with the aim to build our students' understanding of culture and languages.
Our first bitesize lesson will be about native animals, including birds, mammals and reptiles. We will also be sharing with students about species that have been introduced to Australia over the years. These mini lessons will be facilitated to spark conversation amongst students and build their understanding of important areas of culture.
We look forward to sharing updates about the implementation and learning occurring in classrooms from these experiences in the following newsletters and on the Miners Rest Primary School Facebook page.
