Our Prep students reached an exciting milestone this week — 100 days of school! The day was filled with fun activities centred around the number 100, from creative crafts to clever counting challenges. To mark the occasion, our Preps dressed up as 100-year-old versions of themselves, and the costumes were simply amazing! A huge thank you to our wonderful parents for the effort and creativity that went into each outfit, and to our Prep teachers for joining in the fun, dressing up, and organising such engaging activities. The children had a fantastic day celebrating together and making memories.
Please refer to the Education in Faith section of this newsletter for important information regarding the Sacrament of Eucharist. This includes key dates, upcoming events, and essential details for families with children preparing to receive the sacrament this term
At our assembly last week we welcomed our new crossing supervisor, Tessa. Tessa is supervising the new pedestrian crossing on James Street. Her role is vital in keeping our children safe as they travel to and from school.
For the safety of all students, families are reminded to use the supervised crossing on James Street rather than crossing down near High Street. By crossing at the designated point, we can ensure our children are visible to drivers and protected from busy traffic.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us keep our school community safe, and welcome to St Joey's Tessa!!
This year, St Joseph’s will be participating in the Bullying No Way: National week of action, 11 to 15 August 2025. Please see the Wellbeing section of this newsletter for more details.
Please see the Sustainability/Biodiversity section of this newsletter for some news from Ms Lucy about biodiversity at St Joey's.
THANK YOU to the 23 volunteers who have offered to help out at our Working Bee this Saturday!! It's not too late to join us - please see the link below or contact Kathryn if you able to help - even for a short section of the morning.
There’s plenty to do—including mulching, refilling the sandpit, planting, repairing and painting the teepees, and assembling a brand-new boat for the sandpit—and many hands will make light work.
Please bring along any shovels, wheelbarrows, gloves, and willing children who don’t mind getting their hands dirty. Morning tea will be provided as a small thank you for your time and effort.
Please add your name and time to the live roster here
This year’s Art Show will be held in the evening and commence in the school yard, so we've adjusted the date in the hope that the weather will be kind to us!!
This year’s event promises to be extra special, with some exciting new additions including a Silent Auction, the launch of our very own “Archie”-bald Prize, (in honour of our beloved school therapy dog - Archie) and many more surprises that celebrate imagination, expression, and community spirit.
📚 Book Week 2025 – “Book an Adventure!” 📚
We’re excited to celebrate Children’s Book Week from Monday, August 18 to Friday, August 22!
We are delighted to announce that award-winning children’s author Stef Gemmill will be visiting St Joseph’s to inspire and engage our students. Our students will have the opportunity to ask questions, learn about the creative process, and even get inspired to write their own stories. This is a wonderful chance to encourage a love of reading and writing while connecting with a real author.
Thank you to Mrs Thwaites and Ms Franca for oganising this wonderful experience for our children.
📖 Our Book Week Parade will take place on Thursday, August 21.
Students are encouraged to come dressed as a favourite book character or a creative interpretation of this year’s theme - “Book an Adventure!”.
This year, instead of the Scholastic Book Fair at St Joseph's we are participating in the Book Club. Catalogues will go home in school bags early this week, showcasing age appropriate titles and covering interest and abilities for everyone.
Book Club brings the magic of reading to families by curating the catalogue with a huge variety of excellent quality, affordable books.
Supporting St Joseph's with Book Club
15% of every purchase on Book Club goes back to St Joseph's in Scholastic Rewards to buy valuable educational resources for our children.
How to Order from the Book Club online
