Community News

Emmanuel College

There is something for everyone at Emmanuel College, with countless opportunities for students to achieve their personal best individually and in team activities.

Debating

Being a member of the College debating team helps students develop skills in confidence, public speaking and teamwork – skills that are valuable both at school and beyond. We are proud of our debating team members and congratulate them on their fantastic debates at the recent competition held at Mazenod College. Congratulations to Vanessa for being awarded Best Speaker, and the NDC team for winning first prize in Division 2.

Celebrating Cultural Diversity at Emmanuel

This week we came together to celebrate the rich and diverse cultural background within our Emmanuel community. Students and staff proudly showcased their heritage by wearing traditional cultural dress, headwear and creative hairstyles. Our canteen offered a variety of foods from around the world, and the school came alive with musical and dance performances that highlighted the vibrancy of our community. It was truly a joyful week of connection, learning, and celebration. We look forward to sharing more of these memorable experiences with you in the coming weeks.

Year 7 2026 Fun and Games

It was wonderful to see Year 6 students get together to participate in the Year 7 2026 Fun and Games Nights held at each campus. These events are a fantastic opportunity for students to strengthen the connections they have already made through other transition activities during the year, as well as to meet staff and current students. We recognise that moving from primary to secondary school is a significant step, and we are committed to supporting students as they navigate this important transition. Events like these not only help to ease the move but also build confidence and a sense of belonging within our college community.

60th Anniversary

We are turning 60! For six decades, our Emmanuel story has been shaped by faith, and community, memories and friendships. This year, we come together to celebrate it all at our 60th Anniversary Reunion on 10 October. All former students and staff are invited to join us for delicious offerings from local food trucks, an amazing display of artefacts and memorabilia and the chance to reconnect with former teachers and school friends.

Maths Club and Tutoring

At Emmanuel, we know that every student learns differently and sometimes a little extra support can make a big difference. Maths Club at lunchtime and tutoring after school gives students the opportunity to ask questions, work through examples, and complete their homework in a welcoming space. This helps build confidence and a positive attitude towards learning Maths.

Music Camp

At the recent three-day music camp held at Ferngully Lodge in Healesville, students had a fantastic experience and the opportunity to immerse themselves in creativity and collaboration. They enjoyed being able to work within the drumline, choir, band, and string ensembles, before coming together to form a powerful camp orchestra. They also extended their skills through workshops in guitar, drumming, and music theory, and were inspired by guest artist Jake Steele, who introduced them to digital music-making using Ableton and Push 2 units. It was a time of music, teamwork, and community, and we look forward to them sharing these learnings at the Emmanuel College Showcase on 10 September.

Sustainability

Building on the culture of sustainability and respect, we have a new recycling bin at Notre Dame Campus, with every 10c return on cans and bottles, being donated to a fundraiser supported by the College’s Social Justice team, turning simple recycling into an opportunity to give back to the community.

Breakfast Club

Each Tuesday morning, students can enjoy toast, cereal and fruit at the Breakfast Club, held at each campus from 8:15am to 8:40am. It’s a relaxed and welcoming way for students to connect with friends and feel ready for the day ahead.
