Save the Date – Upcoming Art Show! Thursday 9th October - 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
Over the last four weeks, our classrooms and art space have been alive with imagination, colour and creativity as students worked tirelessly on their pieces for this year’s Art Show: The Great Southern Land.
In the Prep classrooms, the children have been captivated by one of Australia’s most beloved authors, Mem Fox. Using Where is the Green Sheep? As their inspiration, they have begun crafting imaginative and detailed responses that bring the playful charm of the story to life.
The Year 1 and 2 students transformed the art space into an underwater wonderland, creating salt dough sea creatures inspired by the Great Barrier Reef. The room was alive with fish, coral and other marine life as the children worked with remarkable concentration and enthusiasm. Watching their discussions and seeing the careful attention they gave to their creations was a true delight.
Meanwhile, the Year 3/4 students have been exploring the textures and beauty of Australian landforms. Through the technique of paper tearing, they are building layered landscapes that highlight the richness of our natural environment. Each piece is a reminder of the diversity of the places we call home, from rolling hills to rugged coastlines.
This year’s theme, The Great Southern Land, has invited all of our students to reflect deeply on Australia’s heritage, history and contemporary society. The Art Show will be a celebration of their creativity and imagination, as well as the power of art to help us connect with our identities, our communities and the world around us.
We warmly invite families to join us on Thursday 9th October from 5:30 to 7:30 PM for an evening of colour, creativity and community. The exhibition will not only showcase the extraordinary work of our students, but also highlight the ways in which Visual Arts enriches their learning journey encouraging them to think creatively, solve problems, collaborate and express themselves with confidence.
Mark your calendars and come along to celebrate with us. An evening of inspiration and artistry awaits.
Prep Visit to the Postbox
Our Prep students have been busy putting pen to paper, writing heartfelt letters either to themselves or to their families. Once their letters were ready, the Preps, along with their teachers, set off on a little adventure to the local post office to send them on their way.
The excitement didn’t stop there! Some lucky Preps have already received their letters at home, while others are eagerly counting down the days until the postman delivers theirs. The anticipation has been real, with many students checking their mailboxes on Friday, Saturday and even Sunday!
One Prep summed up the excursion perfectly, calling it “the best day of their life.” It’s safe to say that for our Preps, this simple act of writing, posting their letters and receiving letters has brought a whole lot of happiness.
