Lower School Elective Selections for 2026

The elective selection process for 2026 Year 8–10 classes is now underway. On Monday afternoon, a special Year 7 Assembly was held to guide students through the steps for submitting their elective preferences for next year using Subject Selection Online (SSO).

SSO is now open for all current Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 students to make their elective selections for 2026. The deadline for all Lower School elective submissions is Monday, 25 August (Week 3.06).

Once selections are complete, students must print their Selection Report and submit it to Student Services, signed by both the student and a parent/carer, by Friday, 29 August. Full details about available subjects can be found on SEQTA via the Subject Selection Portal Page.

NAPLAN Individual Student Reports

The NAPLAN Individual Student Reports for Year 7 and Year 9 students who sat the tests earlier this year are now available in the Reports tab of SEQTA Engage.

Each report outlines your child’s achievement in Reading, Writing, Conventions of Language, and Numeracy, and includes comparisons to school and national benchmarks. We encourage you to review the report with your child to celebrate strengths and identify areas for further growth.

If you need assistance accessing SEQTA or have questions about the report, please contact the College.

OLNA in 2025

The next OLNA test window for Years 10–12 will be held as follows:

Monday, 8 September – Writing

Tuesday, 9 September – Reading

Wednesday, 10 September – Numeracy

Please note: there are no further catch-up opportunities for Year 12 students, so attendance is essential.

A detailed program of test times and venues will be provided to Year 10–12 students shortly.

Year 9 students who have not yet achieved Category 3 in any OLNA component will have their first opportunity to sit the tests in the Term 4 window, from 27 October to 7 November.

Year Group Assemblies

The College has recently held a series of Year Group Assemblies to share important mid-year updates and celebrate student achievements. During these assemblies, Subject Awards were presented to recognise exceptional effort, achievement, and commitment across a range of learning areas. We congratulate all award recipients on their outstanding accomplishments.

Different year groups also received key information specific to their stage of learning, including guidance on subject selections for next year, upcoming events, and opportunities relevant to their cohort.

All assembly presentations have been uploaded as PDFs to the Portals page on SEQTA, for families to view at their convenience.

Use of Mobile Phone Hotspots

The College has recently become aware that some students are using their personal mobile phones to create internet ‘hotspots’ during the school day. This practice bypasses the College’s secure Wi-Fi network, which is filtered and monitored to help ensure students’ online safety and maintain network security. This allows us to protect students from unsafe content and interactions as well as support a focused learning environment.

We remind families that, in line with College expectations, students should not have their phones with them in class. If students choose to bring a phone to school, it must be turned off and stored securely in their locker during the school day.

We ask for your support in reinforcing with your child that:

  • The use of mobile phone hotspots at school is not permitted.

  • All devices should be connected to the College Wi-Fi when in use.

  • Breaches may result in disciplinary measures.

By working together, we can help ensure a safe and productive digital learning environment for all students.

Mr R D'Almeida

(Deputy Principal Years 7 & 10)

Year 9 Information

A letter has been sent to Year 9 students, parents and carers regarding some advance information about the Minimum Entry Requirements for 2027 Year 11 ATAR and General courses. These requirements help ensure that students are enrolled in courses suited to their level of academic readiness, supporting their success in Senior School and guiding realistic, achievable post-school pathway planning. Therefore, this information will assist students to make informed decisions that align with their goals for Years 11 and 12 and when completing their 2026 Year 10 subject selection. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mr Roger D’Almeida (roger.dalmeida@norbert.wa.edu.au) or Miss Carrol Abel (carrol.abel@norbert.wa.edu.au).
