Victorian, Challenge and Enrichment Series

Corinne Fenton is a renowned Australian author who has written and had many picture books published, including one chapter story. Corinne enjoys writing books about real life events and always has an animal as one of her main characters.

A small group of Year 5 and Year 6 students were given the opportunity to participate in an online whole day writing workshop where Corinne shared her wealth of knowledge about the craft of writing. She explained the writing process from the conception of an idea, drafting through to being publishing. The students were explained the importance and had time to practise techniques such as character development, plot and setting through a variety of tasks, including writing in the real, where the student's collected ideas by being in the environment.

The students were highly engaged, and it was wonderful to see their eagerness to write and share their ideas with each other and students from other schools. The confidence and the growth in writing was pleasing to witness. We look forward to seeing more students participate future sessions from the Victorian, Challenge and Enrichments Series.
