Main Campus - Year 4
What an exciting term it’s been in Year 4!
In Literacy, we wrapped up our Persuasive Writing unit with an inspiring series of Ted Talks! Students took the spotlight to share powerful speeches on environmental issues they care deeply about. From saying no to those pesky soy sauce fish bottles, to protecting endangered animals, saving our oceans from plastic pollution, and even sticking up for our native snakes — their passion was loud and clear! It was fantastic to see everyone use their persuasive powers to make their voices heard and inspire positive change.
Now, we’ve dived into the world of Procedural Texts, where students are becoming experts at writing clear and creative instructions. We’ve been exploring the use of transitional words, strong verbs, helpful adverbs, and descriptive adjectives to guide readers step-by-step and paint a vivid picture of what to do. Students have enjoyed unpacking these texts and using key language features to better visualise and understand how procedures work — all while preparing to write their own!
In Inquiry, the creativity hasn’t stopped! We’ve been investigating waste management and how we can reduce our impact on the planet. As part of our learning, students have been busy designing their own ‘Forever Bags’ made entirely from recycled materials. From old jeans and t-shirts to plastic bottles and beyond, the innovation has been incredible! It’s been so much fun watching students bring their eco-friendly designs to life — all while learning about sustainability in a hands-on, meaningful way.
Meanwhile, 4AD and 4SM have been having an absolute blast during our Friday Activities! These sessions have been a wonderful opportunity for students to try new skills, get creative, and have fun together. So far, they’ve enjoyed cooking up a storm with sausage rolls, potato bake, and cookies, and have explored crafty talents through sewing, calligraphy, quilling, weaving, and even creating decorative stones for our Indigenous garden.
We’re incredibly proud of all the enthusiasm and effort Year 4 students have shown this term — they’re certainly a talented bunch!
