Year 8 Visual Art students created several “Dream Catcher Mobiles”. They were an extension from the art pieces created within the Year 7 Visual Art program from the previous year.
Dreamcatchers were originally made by the North American Indians. The research undertaken during class time ensured the students understood their meanings and messages and ensuring the pieces were created with respect and empathy. The circular shape represents the circle of life.
With the inner web catching and destroying bad dreams that occur whilst sleeping. Whereas good dreams are passed through and gently slide into the feathers as a way of comfort for the sleeper. The additional beads symbolise the spider, that which creates the web itself.
An inverted colour system was perfectly arranged and organised by the students as they worked collaboratively to create symmetrically balanced and aesthetically pleasing pieces.
If you’d like to see these wonderful artworks in person, you can find the display by the middle school reception close to Ms Fitzgerald Tates office. Special shout out to Phoebe P, Gracie L, Mikayla H, Mikayla B, Jye K, Ashton G, Alannah R, Georgia O.
