I am pleased to share with our school community the results of the 2025 NAPLAN assessments. Once again, Hampton Primary School students have achieved outstanding results across all areas, with performance levels well above both similar schools and those across our network in every one of the 10 areas measured. In a year where Victorian schools also improved on the whole, it is pleasing to know that we either remained considerably above or improved upon these comparison points.
Whilst comparison is by no means alone a measure of success, it does give a valuable reference point to understand how schools with similar contexts and of similar size are performing in relation to us.
GRADE 3
Our Grade 3 students demonstrated consistently strong performance across the board:
These results show that our focus on early literacy and numeracy foundations is paying off, with Hampton students excelling particularly in grammar and spelling.
GRADE 5
Our Grade 5 cohort demonstrated not only strong results this year but also significant growth from 2024:
SUMMARY
This growth shows the strength of our teaching and learning programs in the senior years, with particularly notable improvements in writing and grammar.
What This Means for Hampton Across both Year 3 and Year 5, Hampton students are consistently performing above state, network, and similar school averages. We are especially proud of:
These results are a testament to the dedication of our teachers, the hard work of our students, and the support of our families. Together, we continue to build a culture of high expectations and strong achievement at Hampton Primary School.
At a granular level, they also provide opportunities to set targets for growth in 2026, which will support us as we put together our Annual Improvement Plan in the coming months. When complete, these targets and the associated strategies will be shared with the School Council and then the community.
What an amazing afternoon we had at our Art Trail and Book Fair! It was wonderful to see so many families come along and celebrate the extraordinary creativity of our students. The pride the children showed in sharing their artwork was a real highlight, and the atmosphere around the school was buzzing.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along and supported the event, and especially to Dani and Alison, whose tireless work made the Art Trail such a success. To bring an event of this scale together so beautifully, and earlier in the year than planned, is an incredible achievement.
A large thanks also goes to Jen for her organisation of the Book Fair — the library was alive with excitement as students browsed and imagined new titles to enjoy.
Finally, thank you to the wider school community for supporting with your presence and engagement showcase the spirit of our wonderful school.
I am so proud of our Girls and Boys soccer teams that participated in the State Finals last week. To be in the top 8 teams in the state in both is incredible, with the teams finishing 3rd and 4th this year overall. We have a strong history of success in soccer, and this continued talent and hard work of the teams has produced wonderful results again. A huge thank you to Rob who coached the teams throughout the campaign, and Michael who helped on the day. Our parents have also enabled this to be possible through enormous commitment to car pooling, training, camp pick up and drop off and more, and I thank you for all that you gave to support your children to progress through each stage.
Many thanks to the dads, uncles, grandfathers and other important figures that attended our Beaut Blokes Afternoon last week. I understand that it’s difficult to commit to this but the joy your children get from you being connected to them in the classroom is hopefully what makes it worthwhile for you, and certainly is noticeable for us. Whilst I was unfortunately unable to attend this year, I know it’s an annual highlight and as a dad with limited opportunities to be connected to my children’s school, I can absolutely appreciate why!
