St Kilda Football Club Visit BPS!
Last Tuesday, our students had the opportunity to hear from and meet three St Kilda Football Club players - Marcus Windhager, Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera, and Angus McLennan. Marcus is a past Beaumaris Primary School student, and both Marcus and Angus played for the Beaumaris Sharks when they were younger. Our student's eagerly listened to their stories and insights about life as an AFL player and asked from great questions. We learnt that Marcus has some stand out memories with Miss Cooper from when he was in Year 6 at BPS and they won the State Basketball Final. He also shared that, for him, the MCG is one of the most exciting stadiums to play at, but Adelaide Oval would have to be his favourite stadium. The three players shared insights into the work that goes into preparing for a game, including the use of visualisations. Thank you to St Kilda Football Club for providing this opportunity for our students!
St Kilda FC have left some flyers at our office regarding upcoming school holiday clinics. Please collect one from the office if interested.

Our Visual Art team would love any donations of pool noodles. These will be recycled to create new items in the Visual Art program next term. Please drop them off at the office or the Visual Art classroom. Thank you!
Donations Needed for Environmental Science
Our Environmental Science team would love any donations of old socks for our Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 students to use to create worm sock puppets. Please drop them off at the office or the Environmental Science classroom. Thank you!
Environmental Science News
We hope you have been able to see our magnificent sunflower in the kitchen garden over the last two weeks. She was super impressive and had a very positive effect on lots of us. Sadly she is coming to the end of her days, but we have included some photos to remind you.
Soon the students will help clear our garden beds and prepare them for our Autumn planting. At the moment the Year 5's are making plans for planting, learning about how different vegetables and herbs are suited to different seasons and creating designs for the garden beds. We’ll update you when the planting is happening. The Preps and Year 1's have been learning about worms and dirt, and you can see them doing “worm dancing” below.
We have been so pleased seeing our students with amazing nude food lunches, nutritious and delicious, in a wide variety of sustainable, reusable containers and lunch boxes. We encourage everyone to be on board, and reduce any packaging in lunches to the bare minimum when essential.

Volunteering at BPS
Beaumaris Primary School highly values our community and the support we receive from parents and carers in many different aspects of school life. We welcome the opportunity for parents and carers to volunteer within our school across a range of different school-based activities.
In previous years, we have held information sessions to provide volunteers with the required information in order to volunteer. This year, we have created a digital Volunteer Handbook and an online induction process to ensure that the information is accessible to parents/carers at a time that suits them.
If you would like to volunteer at Beaumaris Primary School, the process will now be:
- Read the below BPS Volunteer Handbook, which includes the below policies and documents:
- BPS Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy
- BPS Child Safety Code of Conduct Policy
- BPS Child Safety Responding and Reporting Policy
- BPS Volunteers Policy
BPS Volunteer Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Induction Handbook.
Complete this online form, which includes both the Volunteer OHS Induction Checklist and the Volunteering at Beaumaris Primary School Questionnaire (https://forms.office.com/r/X1JfFrAPsa).
- Email a scanned copy or provide in person for photocopying a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) card to the office staff.
The above process will need to be completed prior to volunteering at Beaumaris Primary School. This process can be completed at any stage throughout the year, at a time that suits you.
We thank you for your interest in volunteering and supporting our students, staff and school community.
