Performing Arts Update

This term in Performing Arts we have been immersing ourselves in Drama! In grades 3-6, we have been exploring character acting using our body, face and voice. Students are learning to project their voice and face the audience, getting ready for our school concert! We have also been writing short scripts featuring Jimbo the Construction Worker, Harmony the Hippy and Tim the Talking Donut! I have seen some excellent embracing of these roles.
In Foundation to Grade 2, we have been developing our role play skills in a class cafe setting. Students are learning to transfer their creative role play to structured character and script.
In Drama, students have the valuable opportunity to explore the world through multiple perspectives. Inhabiting different characters fosters empathy and connecting in their own lives. They also develop their confidence and public speaking and performing skills.
