Students worked with a partner to identify a target number using clues. Collaborative learning by working together to build our knowledge of place value. Maths is fun!
We are learning how to correctly form lower and upper case letters.
During our Core Literacy Learning, we built words with digraphs-two letters one sound. We focused on zz, ss, ff in one of our word building lessons.
Students are learning how to give and follow directions such as right, left, in front and behind.
We love using our whiteboards to solve maths equations. Students in Grade 2 used the 'Base 10' blocks to make 3 digit numbers in small groups.
We have been using the book 'Who Sank the Boat?' by Pamela Allen to practise writing sentences.
During Paired Fluency, we focus on our decoding, accuracy and fluency. We help our partners to become even better readers by giving them feedback.
Daily handwriting practise is a core part of our Literacy block.
We are practicing our heart words. Heart words is a strategy of learning irregular high frequency words. We focus on the individual sounds that don't follow the common rules and learn this part by heart.
We have been learning the difference between a fragment (an incomplete thought) and a sentence (a complete thought). We know that a sentence needs a 'subject' (who or what the sentence is about) and a 'predicate' (what the subject is doing). We have been learning that a sentence needs a capital letter at the start and an end punctuation (. ! ?) at the end of the sentence.
During our Reading and Writing sessions we are learning lots of new vocabulary! Here are some of the new words we have been learning the meaning of.
