French News

Bonjour Parents and Students!

Just like that, we have reached Week 8 at Tarneit Rise Primary School! Our students continue to progress, remaining eager to learn, practice, and explore more French.

•    Prep students focused on learning basic colours and the days of the week.

•    Grade 1 students expanded their knowledge by exploring a variety of colours and the months of the year.

•    Grade 2 students were assessed on their learning in Week 7. In Week 8, they explored words related to emotions and discovered that French adjectives take different forms based on gender. They successfully wrote complete sentences about their own emotions using the correct gender agreement.

•    Grade 3 students concentrated on learning how to talk about the weather in French. As part of their language portrait project, they reflected on their linguistic experiences, including the languages they use at home and school, as well as those they are interested in.

•    Grade 4 students completed assessments in Week 7 and, in Week 8, explored different types of French bread and pastries by designing their own bakery menus.

•    Grade 5 and 6 students discussed their routines and hobbies, learning to talk about various sports and activities using the structures “I play,” “I do,” and “I + a verb.” They also had fun reading Blanche Neige (Snow White) in French and used their creativity to imagine three alternative endings for the story. Our students are making fantastic progress, and we look forward to seeing them continue their French journey!
