Principal's Message

Hello parents and carers,

I've been privileged to join many conversations, and attend quite a few high-end professional learning opportunities, this past month that reinforce the school’s vision of providing exceptional education to every student.

Over the past two weeks members of our executive leadership team have been engaged in classroom observation, data dives, and forums as part of the school review. I would like to thank all parents who engaged in the forums and provided valuable insights.

The executive leadership team also visited Ballarat and Clarendon College (both junior and senior campuses) over the past two weeks. We visited classrooms and engaged with the school’s leadership staff.

Last weekend some members of our executive leadership team attended the ResearchED conference in Ballarat. ResearchED is a global grassroots movement aimed to bridge the gap between research and practice in education. Researchers, teachers, and policy makers came together for a day of information-sharing and myth-busting. ResearchED events are held all over the work, including (in 2025) New York City, Dubai, Toronto and Ballarat!

We are so lucky to have access to quality professional learning and networking opportunities. At Tarneit Rise we continue to explore the progress we have made, and more importantly, reflect on, and plan for, constant evolution and commitment in the work that remains.

Next term our whole school will be working with consultant, Joe Ybarra, from the United States of America to improve our knowledge and practices in Explicit Direct Instruction. Joe will work with our school over terms two and three.

These high quality Professional Learning events are strongly aligned to the Education State Strategy, a vision for the future of all Victorian schools.

Next term we will also be attending the Government School Principals Conference, themed ‘Excellence in Every Classroom’, where Victorian principals and assistant principals will work together to translate vision into action.

Today we celebrated Harmony Day which is always a calendar highlight for us at Tarneit Rise! The theme for Harmony Day and Harmony Week 2025 is "Harmony - we all have a role to play!". This theme encourages inclusiveness, respect, and a sense of belonging for all Australians, regardless of their cultural background.  At Tarneit Rise Primary School we believe that our strength lies in our differences. This year, our students, teachers, and staff went above and beyond to make Harmony Day truly special. The entire school came alive with colourful displays, music, and dance, from around the world.  One of the most powerful aspects of Harmony Day is how it brings everyone together. In a world where we are often divided by differences, Harmony Day reminds us that it is our differences that should be celebrated. We may speak different languages, eat different foods, and follow different traditions, but at the heart of it all, we are one community, united in our shared experiences and values.

At Tarneit Rise we’re proud of our cultural diversity, and Harmony Day is just one of the many ways we show our commitment to fostering an inclusive, respectful environment for all. It is our hope that the lessons learned today will continue to inspire understanding, compassion, and unity long after the day’s festivities have ended.

Have a great week
