Year 5/6 - Senior Unit

What a hectic couple of weeks we have had!
Last week, we researched the voting process in Australia and used this knowledge to elect our Junior School Council class representatives. Candidates worked in teams to create campaign posters and individual speeches to present to their class. We then used the preferential voting process to cast our votes. The classrooms were turned into replicas of a voting station, with voting booths and sealed voting boxes. The representatives for 56E are Annika and Finn, for 56C we have Beau and Alexa, and for 56I, we had three students who tied with the same votes - Harvey, Momoko and Frankie.
This week, students showed amazing resilience when completing the NAPLAN assessments. We have three down and only one to go! The Year 6 students have been working collaboratively to complete maths and reading challenges during this time.
CANBERRA CAMP
Final preparations are underway for our Canberra Camp next week. Medical slips will be sent home on Friday for any medication not usually kept at school. Slips must be completed and brought to school on Tuesday morning. Please take the next few days to help your child organise and pack their clothing so that they know what to pack on the return day. Please note that all bedding and towels will be supplied by the camp. This is a no technology camp, but it would be a good idea for them to bring something to do on the bus ride up there.
