Principal's Message

What’s been happening this week?
Synodal Gathering - "Walking Together"
Last Sunday, 60 members from our parish and school community came together for a Synodal Gathering, a special opportunity to listen, discuss, and discern on the theme of "Our Community."
Through guided discussions and moments of prayerful reflection, key questions were discussed:
Key aspects to reflect on in prayer.....What do these words imply to us and our Parish?
- Inclusion and Participation
- Relationships
- Service and Outreach
Why has this area of focus captured my heart's attention?
Where is the Holy Spirit nudging me personally in regard to this area?
Where is the Holy Spirit nudging us as a community in regard to this area?
This Synodal Gathering was a meaningful step in our ongoing journey of faith, reinforcing our collective responsibility to build a thriving and compassionate parish and school community. A summary of the main points will be shared with you in the coming weeks.
Synodal Prayer
We stand before You, Holy Spirit, as we gather together in Your name.
With You alone to guide us, make Yourself at home in our hearts.
Teach us the way we must go and how we are to pursue.
We are weak and sinful; do not let us promote disorder.
Do not let ignorance lead us down the wrong path nor partiality influence our actions.
Let us find in You our unity so that we may journey together to eternal life and not stray from the way of truth and what is right.
All this we ask of You, who are at work in every place and time, in the communion of the Father and the Son, forever and ever.
Amen
NAPLAN
On Wednesday, our Year 3 and Year 5 students began their NAPLAN assessments, starting with the Writing component. This assessment allows students to showcase their ability to express ideas clearly and effectively in a structured written format.
Next week, they will continue their NAPLAN journey with three more assessments: Reading, which evaluates their comprehension and interpretation skills; Conventions of Language, which assesses grammar, punctuation, and spelling; and Numeracy, which tests mathematical reasoning and problem-solving abilities.
We commend our students for their focus and effort and encourage them to approach these assessments with confidence. We wish them all the very best as they continue to demonstrate their skills and knowledge.
NAPLAN provides valuable insights into student progress in literacy and numeracy, helping teachers identify strengths and areas for growth. The results are used to inform teaching strategies, support student learning, and track progress over time. As a school, we analyse this data alongside classroom assessments to ensure every child receives the support they need to succeed. We encourage students to approach the tests with confidence, do their best.
What’s On Next Week?
SPARK - Supporting Potential Among Remarkable Kids
Four students have been selected to participate in the SPARK (Supporting Potential Among Remarkable Kids) Day at Our Lady of Perpetual Succour (OLPS) West Pymble on Friday, 21st March.
This enriching day will focus on creating virtual worlds using Edged VR technology, providing students with an opportunity to develop their creativity and digital skills. A highlight of the experience will be their virtual connection with students from NC College in Uluru, fostering collaboration and broadening their learning perspectives.
We look forward to hearing all about this fabulous experience. We hope Noah T., Steven H., Lucas W., Oliver X.
and Mrs Dickinson have a wonderful day of learning.
Kindest regards,
Pauline Dinale - Principal
