News from Foundation

Wow! The first few weeks of Foundation have gone so fast! We cannot believe how amazing our Foundation Students have been doing! They have been superstars, coming to school daily and learning many new and exciting things! Wednesday, March 5th, will be the last Wednesday off before we are at school every day. However, the first full week is the long weekend, and we will be here Wednesday through Friday.
Maths
Patterns
Last week, we finished our unit on Patterns! The Foundation students loved creating many different patterns using various materials, such as blocks, teddies, counters, and more! They were amazing at making different types of patterns, such as two-repeating patterns and three-repeating patterns. Here are some links to some of the Seesaw entries they created to explain their patterns.
Time
This week in Math, the Foundation students have started learning about time. We started by talking about time as a sequence using the words first, next, and last. The Foundation students then used pictures to arrange steps in order, such as eating breakfast or getting ready for school. Here are some of their Seesaw entries describing these events.
Literacy
WOW!!! The Foundation students have finally learned their first set of letters- S A T P I N!! It is fair to say that they were so excited when they discovered that they now can read and write words using these letters!! Here are some of the words we have learned!!
Assembly
On Friday 14th March the F/1/2 students will be presented at our Whole School Assembly from 2:15-3:00 pm! We hope you can make it and see all the great things we have been learning! After the assembly, we would like to invite the F/1/2 parents to a brief afternoon tea from 3:00-3:00 pm, to come and learn how you can help your child read at home! We think this will be a great way to build your skills and continue the learning from school, into the home environment. We will be able to provide supervision to the F/1/2 students for this time to ensure that you can come along. We hope to see you there so we can continue to work together and grow young minds!
