From the School Council President  -

RNPS Voluntary Contributions - An Overview.

Thank you to those that attended the recent Information Evening and for allowing members of School Council to briefly detail how voluntary contributions greatly benefit our school.

Parent Contributions: As you know, our school requests two voluntary payments from families: Curriculum contributions and Additional contributions. Curriculum contributions help to pay for items and services your child directly uses throughout the year. The Other contributions are crucial for maintaining and enhancing the quality of our school facilities and programs. Critical features of our school, such as the Literacy Intervention Program (Mrs Seyer) and our School Counsellor (Teresa Smith), are not government funded and rely entirely on parent contributions to continue.

Current Challenges: In recent years, RNPS has faced increasing challenges in maintaining our school grounds and facilities to the high standards we all expect. The cost of living pressures have also affected our school, leading to higher costs for maintenance and essential tasks. This has made it difficult to keep up with the necessary upkeep and improvements.

Importance of Voluntary Contributions: Your voluntary contributions play a vital role in bridging the gap between our curriculum contributions and the actual costs of running and maintaining the school. These funds help us:

  • Maintain and improve school grounds and facilities.

  • Provide additional resources and materials for classrooms.

  • Support extracurricular activities and programs.

  • Enhance the overall learning environment for our students.

Encouragement to Contribute: We understand that everyone is facing financial pressures, but we kindly ask you to consider the impact your contributions can make. By choosing to pay one of the higher levels of voluntary fees, you are directly investing in your child's education and the quality of their school experience.

  • Level A: $110: The minimum RNPS needs for basic maintenance and repair

  • Level B: $205: The minimum RNPS needs for enhanced maintenance or repair

  • Level C: $300: The minimum RNPS needs for additional enhancements beyond routine maintenance and repair

Examples of enhancements thanks to past voluntary contributions from families:

·         installation of new areas for students

·         upgrade outdoor areas, eg. new shade sails, renew outdoor surfaces

·         develop new functional spaces in learning areas

·      maintain and improve technology options for students to explore, eg. robotics, 3D printing and electronics

·       enriched specialist program with more instruments, supported choir and ensemble programs in music, team uniforms, specialised equipment that challenges and motivates students additional wellbeing options for students experiencing social and emotional difficulties – allowing the best support for students

RNPS is committed to providing the best possible education and environment for your children. With your support, we can continue to maintain and improve our school to meet the high standards we all strive for.

Thank you to those that have already contributed and for those considering.

Kind regards,

Scott Nixon, School Council President
