Andrew Hutchins - Year 5

My name is Andrew Hutchins, and I am still relatively new to Alphington Primary School. I started in 2024 as the STEM teacher but I am so excited to be back in the classroom.  This is my 17th year of teaching and I have had the pleasure of working in all sorts of different schools and countries. My favourite subject is Maths but I find Spelling the most difficult as when I was in primary school we were only ever taught to “spell it how it sounds”. We all know how tricky English is, as there are 26 letters but so many more sounds.

I grew up in country Victoria in a town called Warrnambool (you may know it from the movie Oddball). I am the oldest of three children in my family and I have two sisters - Casey and Emma. I now also have a niece Calli, and two nephews, Billy and Fletcher. In June, I found the new love of my life - my Cavoodle Yoshi! I hope this has helped you learn a little more about me and I can't wait to learn more about you.
