2026 Arts Week - a celebration of creativity
by Mr James Taylor, Arts Domain Leader
In week two of this term, we once again celebrate all things Arts, including Media, Drama, Music, Photography, Technology, Design and Visual Arts.
On Monday, the Year 10 Music class kicked off the week. The students who packed into room H4 were entertained by a wide range of music acts, from piano to strings to rock and roll. Well done, Year 10!

Tuesday was Drama’s turn. Ms Longden and senior Drama students put on some drama activities, including my favourite bench game (sorry, I know it has a better name). I really love the way Drama students can immerse themselves into imaginary worlds.

Tuesday also saw the opening of the Visual Arts exhibition in the Hall. The many visitors to the space were treated to examples of every art and design subject that ran in Semester 1. It is so wonderful to be able to stand back and appreciate the skills and creativity of our Year 7 to 12 emerging artists.
It was also great to have families and friends visit the exhibition on Tuesday after school.

Then on Friday, it was the VCE Music students’ opportunity to perform to a live audience. We heard from four highly talented musicians, all playing a woodwind instrument.

The Media screening also happed on Friday to a packed audience in room H2.
Given I am both the Arts Domain Leader and one of the school photographers, I had the privilege of seeing more of Arts Week that anyone else. It was a great week.
My thanks to all my hard-working colleagues for their efforts during the week and in the weeks preceding it. While it is called Arts Week, for some subjects it is one day. But well worth it, and right around the time of subject selection.
Thanks to all the student leaders who helped us during Arts Week, as well as in week one with the Senior Expo. We could not do it without you all.
And thanks to every student who contributed to the event, whether by a performance, a product or an artwork.
I am already looking forward to the VCE Exhibition later this year, when we get to celebrate the results of our Year 12 VCD and AME students’ folios.
