YEAR 2

FROM THE CLASSROOM

This week, we have continued to enjoy lots of exciting learning!

In Literacy, students explored the fiction text 'Mallee Sky' and the non-fiction text 'The Mallee'. They practised inferring, making text-to-text connections, identifying the main idea and summarising key information.

During Talk for Writing, students began innovating our model text, 'Pirate Tom', by changing elements to create their own version of the story.

In Mathematics, students continued developing their understanding of multiplication by building and interpreting arrays. They identified equal rows and columns and used arrays to solve multiplication problems.

During Little Learners Love Literacy, students learnt to read and spell words containing the suffixes -y and -ly. They applied the doubling and drop-the-e rules and explored how -ly words can tell us when or how an action happens.

It has been another fantastic week of learning, and we are proud of the enthusiasm and effort shown by our students!

REMINDERS

A Friendly Reminder about Morning Arrival Times

A big thank you to our families for supporting students to arrive at school on time. We have noticed a wonderful improvement in punctuality, which has helped create a calm and settled start to the day with fewer interruptions to learning.

As a reminder, students should be in their classroom and ready to learn by 8:35 am each morning.
