SSS & MS Graduates URBNSURF Excursion

Students from SSS, along with some Middle School Graduates, recently hit the waves at URBNSURF Melbourne as part of our Future Ready program. 

Students began by practising their surfing stance, balance and how to safely stand up on the board before heading into the lagoon to give it a go on real waves. It was great to see students building confidence and persistence as they improved with each attempt. 

They then moved into a Water Safety session, learning about currents, rips and how to stay safe in the water, along with practising important CPR skills and how to respond in emergency situations.

To finish, students worked in groups to enter and navigate a current and rip safely, applying their knowledge in a practical setting. 

This was a great way to build understanding of how to stay calm and make safe decisions in the water.
