Value of the Fortnight

By Dianne Wright - Middle School Principal

We will study the value Courage when we return to school on Monday 20th April.

Anzac Day is always commemorated on 25 April every year. This special day gives us a time to reflect upon the courage of so many men and women who have gone to war to ensure that future generations of Australians can live in peace and enjoy freedom from prejudice and other harmful restrictions. We are very fortunate to live in such a wonderful country where resources are abundant and safety is a priority.

The Anzac spirit, the comradery, mateship and courage can be seen in every Australian.

Jaqueline Cations, a journalist for the Herald Sun, wrote that ‘the Anzac spirit…. is the ability to fight against the odds and to venture into the unknown to perform acts of great courage, kindness and sacrifice.’ Whether it be in the classroom, tackling a difficult problem or being challenged on the sports field, our students also show courage knowing that they must ‘soldier’ on through adversity if they are to achieve their best.
