Wellbeing

I hope all families had a restful and enjoyable Easter break. It has been wonderful to welcome students back to school, ready for a new term of learning, growth and connection.
This fortnight at St Margaret Mary’s, our whole-school focus is the character strength of Forgiveness. Forgiveness means choosing to be kind, even when someone has upset us or made a poor choice. It involves letting go of anger and giving others the opportunity to make things right. While this can sometimes be challenging, it helps us move forward with a caring and positive mindset.
We acknowledge that forgiveness is not always easy. Students may feel hurt, disappointed or frustrated. However, learning to forgive supports emotional wellbeing, strengthens friendships and contributes to a respectful and supportive school environment.
Forgiveness also includes taking responsibility for our own actions—having the courage to say “sorry” and the willingness to accept an apology from others.
In the Bible, Jesus teaches us: “Forgive, and you will be forgiven.” Luke 6:37
This reminds us that forgiveness is an
important part of living with compassion,
mercy and understanding.
By practising forgiveness each day, we
continue to build a school community where everyone feels valued, supported and respected.
