Our Learning - Weeks 2 & 3
Social and Emotional Learning (SEL):
-To talk about when it is important to be able to be both strong and gentle at the same time.
-To review the rules of fair play that are used in some children’s games.
-To describe what being ‘mean’ and ‘friendly’ can look or sound like when people are playing together.
English:
-To recognise the /s/ sound consisting of the grapheme ‘ss’ and identify words that have a /s/ sound at the end and are spelt with the grapheme ‘ss’.
-To recognise the suffix –s is used for plural words and identify words that have the suffix –s.
-To read the text Edward the Emu and describe the characters in the story.
-To explore making inferences when reading texts Don't Call Me Bear and Clancy the Quokka.
-To respond to picture prompts and practise writing sentences about them.
Maths:
-To use our ‘superhero eyes’ to subitise collections.
-To figure out all the ways to make a given number.
-To explore what ‘odd’ and ‘even’ means with the use of tens frames.
-To name the tens numbers correctly up to 120 – saying ‘ty’ at the end.
Inquiry:
Our Inquiry unit will be focusing on Australian animals and their habitats.
-To understand what Indigenous means and explore how Indigenous Australians care for the land and animals.
-To learn what Native Australian Animals are.
-To understand what 'habitat' means and explore different habitats.

-Blue Reader bags- please send these to school with your child every day.
-Curriculum Day- Wednesday, 13th August- this is a student-free day, therefore students are not required to attend school.
-Book Week Parade- Monday, 18th August. Students can dress up as their favourite book character and participate in the parade.
