Our Learning - Weeks 2 & 3
During this fortnight in the 3-and 4-year-old kindergarten, the children had a visit from the Flying Bookworm who presented Goldilocks and the three Bears, The Ugly Duckling and The Gingerbread Man through interactive drama. The children were able to dress up, join in actions and songs enhancing the story telling.
Children have also been undertaking learning in the following areas:
Pre-Reading: Book walks - extracting information from pictures Creating their own stories with story stones, symbols and props Playing in small worlds, retelling familiar stories |
Pre-Writing: Signing in on arrival Mark making with a range of tools, markers, sticks, paint brushes Strengthening and refining our fine motor muscles through the use of dough and clay Building gross motor skills for core strength and range of movement through heavy play with tyres and logs, climbing on obstacle courses and balancing |
STEM : For children to explore bridge building - using a selection of loose parts, children create bridges for billy goats gruff to cross safely. For children develop an understanding of symbols |
Inquiry : Our World, Many Stories- through stories we can explore our imagination and experience different cultures Exploring different ways stories can be told Creating stories through art Listening to audio stories |
Social & emotional learning : Children have been settling into Term 3, following familiar routines. Playing small group games Working on sharing and turn taking |
Celebration of learning
Enrolments for free 3 and 4 year old sessional kindergarten.
Enrol through Casey Council for Hillsmeade Kindergarten.
Long Day Care enrolments with kindergarten is through the ELC office.
