Dear Parents and Students,
As we wrap up the term, I want to take a moment to recognise and celebrate the incredible efforts of our students.
To our Year 10s — congratulations on completing your first semester at JMSS. Stepping into a new school and taking on your first exam period is no small achievement. This experience is a powerful stepping stone in your learning journey. I encourage you to reflect on what worked, what challenged you, and how you can continue to grow as you prepare for the end-of-year exams.
To our Year 11s — well done on completing your Unit 1 studies. You’ve now had your first real taste of the VCE experience, and I hope you’ve embraced the challenge with curiosity, courage and determination. Continue to explore who you are as learners and as people — this is a time of immense growth, and every step forward matters.
And to our Year 12s — congratulations on reaching the halfway mark of your final year. This final chapter of secondary school is demanding, but also rich with opportunity. The end of term was intense, and you’ve earned the chance to pause, reflect, and recharge. Use the break to reset, because your final months at JMSS await — and they’ll be some of your most memorable.
A special highlight of the term was the Year 10 & 11 Formal — a wonderful evening for students to celebrate, connect, and simply enjoy being together. The return to Quat Quatta was a great success, and while the weather kept us on our toes, the joy of the night shone through. Events like these are more than just fun; they help shape the community spirit that makes JMSS so special. A heartfelt thank you to the staff who supported the event — your presence and care make these moments possible.
Finally, I’d like to remind everyone of some important support services available over the holiday break. If you or someone you know is feeling overwhelmed or experiencing significant distress, please don’t hesitate to reach out to one of the organisations listed below. Help is always available, and you are not alone.
I hope staff and students can enjoy a well-earned break.
