Hearts, Hot Chocolate & Hope: A Big Morning at Brooklyn Park
Over the last two weeks our Early Learning Centre and Junior School at Brooklyn Park have come together to host the Biggest Morning Tea Fundraiser in support of the Cancer Council - and what a success it was!
Thanks to the incredible generosity and support from our school community, we proudly raised $2,636.15 to contribute to cancer research, prevention, and support services.
Students were extremely excited to receive their recess packs, and the hot chocolate was a definite crowd favourite across all year levels. Smiles and happy chatter filled the yard as students enjoyed their special treats while supporting an important cause.
This wonderful event would not have been possible without the tireless efforts and coordination of our Parent Representatives, who generously gave their time to help organise, package, and distribute morning tea packs for classrooms. Your dedication behind the scenes ensured a smooth and joyful experience for all.
A special shoutout also goes to our Year 5/6 ECCO students, who played a key role in the success of the fundraiser. These enthusiastic students helped prepare treats, designed eye-catching posters, and delivered packs to classrooms with care and cheer. Their servant hearts, creativity, and teamwork were on full display, and we are incredibly proud of their contribution.
This event was not only a meaningful way to support a vital cause but also a shining example of the power of community, compassion, and collaboration. Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and made the day so memorable.

Year 3/4 Creative Clay Designs and Patterned Paintings
Our Year 3/4 students at the Brooklyn Park campus have been immersed in their Art lessons this term, and the results speak for themselves. Just take a look at the stunning display of work!
We began the term exploring the world of clay, focusing on hand-sculpted clay pots. Students experimented with different techniques to add details and texture, learning how to shape and mould using just their hands and crafting with simple tools. This led to a study of terracotta clay works, where students created 3D designs that extended from a flat clay slab, using a range of cutting tools to bring their ideas to life.
To finish the term, we turned our attention to the unique and experimental art style of Canadian artist Alex Demers. Demers is known for creating textured backgrounds and bold animal imagery using unconventional materials. Inspired by her techniques, students used everyday objects like toy cars, shoes, wire, and egg cartons to create interesting patterns and textures in their own backgrounds. They then carefully painted animal designs over the top, resulting in some truly eye-catching and creative pieces.
It’s been a joy to see each student embrace new techniques and materials while expressing their individual creativity throughout the term.
This term, our young artists didn’t just make art, they made masterpieces!

'My name is Robin of Locksley and they call me Robin Hood,
If you're looking for a musical, here's one that's REALLY good,
You'll meet my band of merry men - adventurers in the wood,
Ohhh ... Maid Marion's a delight, and Friar Tuck is a sight...
This modern Robin Hood musical is great fun to perform and will be enjoyed by children and parents alike.
Robin Hood is back in town, along with Maid Marian, the Sheriff of Nottingham, Friar Tuck and Richard the Lionheart. Will he succeed in his plight to free the nation from the tyranny of the wicked Sheriff? Will King Richard return from the Crusades in time? And, will Maid Marian get her man?
A swashbuckling modern adaptation of the traditional Robin Hood story, Hoodwinked will have your audience 'booing', 'hissing' and 'cheering' with gusto.' -Out of the Ark Music

Science Investigation Week in 3/4 Shahrooei
This term in Science, the 3/4 team have been learning about Rocks, Minerals and Soils. The students have conducted many investigations and experiments.
They learned about the different types of soils, and how they can be categorised into Sandy, Loam and Clay. They took samples of soil from the yard at school, then tested and analysed them.
Next, the students explored the different components of their soil by adding water to their jar of soil, giving it a good shake and observing the layers that formed. They then identified what was in each layer.
This has been really interesting for everyone, and we have noticed big differences in the soil profiles from different areas of the school yard.
We were also thrilled to be able to interview Miss Gordon's uncle, who is a farmer, about the different types of soil that he sees and what impact this has on his farming experience.
