Debating Update

We’re proud to have nine debating teams representing Emmaus this year in the Debating SA Competition, with nearly 40 students from Years 5–12 actively involved.

Our teams have been performing well across all year levels. After three rounds these are the most notable results:

• Year 5 Alpacas are sitting sixth out of 33 teams
• Year 7 Meerkats are eighth out of 48
• Year 8 White team is impressively placed third out of 53

Other teams have shown great spirit and determination, with many close debates and strong individual performances. Regardless of results, we’re most proud of the growth in confidence, critical thinking, and public speaking we've seen in all our debaters.

A huge thank you to our amazing coaches - including teachers, parents, and senior students - for the time and energy they’ve invested, and to the parents for supporting their children’s participation.

Thinking ahead to 2026? 

Debating is a powerful way for students to develop their confidence, reasoning skills, and teamwork. We encourage students and families to consider getting involved in future seasons!
