Recharge Into Semester 2
Today is the last day of a long, eleven-week term, and everyone at Plenty Parklands is ready for a rest and recharge in preparation for a busy Term 3, that includes our whole school production.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish each family a safe, warm and enjoyable term break full of lots of family fun.
Staff Carpark
After a concerning near miss involving a car and student last week, we have been forced to make some adjustments to our processes in the main carpark near the administration building. From the start of Term 3, we ask that you follow the new process that no families use this carpark for any reason. This carpark can only be used for staff purposes.
For those families accessing before and after
school care, please use the drop off zone on
Blossom Park Drive when dropping off or picking up your children. At some stage in the near future, we will be installing an automated gate to further ensure student safety.
Empowering Students To Speak Up
We are noticing a real difference between families that train their children to instantly inform a teacher of any problems in the yard, compared to those families whose children instead wait until they get home to tell an adult about problems that may have occurred.
It would be of great help to our staff if you can remind your children that they have the power to say “stop I don’t like it” to a peer who is annoying them, and that informing an adult is a great strategy for getting help.
Harriet Update
Our new school puppy Harriet is in the middle of a training program that will equip her with the skills to move about our school safely and interact with our students in a positive manner.
This intense training program is mandated by the Department of Education and means we should have a well-prepared wellbeing dog ready to support our students at some stage during semester 2.
Staffing Changes
To update parents on our staffing profile for next term. Miss Tayla Vanderwert is our new teacher in Prep 9, Tayla joins us from Barrawang Primary School, where she has been teaching Prep. In Prep 13, Mr. Alex Campbell will continue and will be joined by Mrs. Ashlee McLeod, who will share the teaching duties of this class. Miss Caitlin Moritis has accepted a position at Fairfield Primary School.
Our Junior School Co-ordinator Mrs. Megan Long is on long service leave for Term 3. Mrs. Tenille Andrews will be looking after any Prep concerns that parents may have.
Fundraising
Our Make a Wish Foundation fundraiser finishes up today and I am very proud to announce that we have raised over $1,000 for this very important organisation.
Scanu House (Gold) were our winning team with close to $500 raised. The students in Gold House will receive their prize in the first week of Term 3 as chosen by the house captains. The students will enjoy an extended recess and a free zooper dooper.
