Out & About at Edgeworth Public School
Starstruck
In Week 7, 15 excited students from our choir and 34 dances went to the Newcastle Entertainment Centre to perform at Star Struck Remixed Vol. 33. It was the 33rd edition of Star Stuck, an entertainment spectacle that showcases the musical, singing and dancing talents of students across the Hunter Region, and it was the biggest and best one yet.
After months of rehearsal, the long days and cold nights couldn’t dampen the enthusiasm of our students who sang and danced their hearts out for sold-out audiences of thousands in all 4 shows on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th June.
A big thank you to Mr Kane Sanders, Miss Nikki Tregeagle for supporting, guiding and teaching our students. I would also like to acknowledge Mrs Kirsty Voysey, Mrs Deb Chapman and Mrs Jo O'Connell for supporting our students and teachers during performance week.
Congratulations on a such a fantastic performance!
Week 10- NAIDOC Week
NAIDOC Week is a time to reflect and celebrate the histories, cultures, and achievements of Aboriginal people and Torres Strait Islander people. We recognise the Ongoing Custodians of the lands and waterways where we work, learn, play and live.
The official NAIDOC Week (6 to 13 July), due to it failing into the school holidays we as a school and our Glendale Education Alliance (GEA) are reflecting and celebrating next week.
This year's theme - The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy - celebrates 50 years of honouring and elevating Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander voices, culture, and resilience. It celebrates not only the achievements of the past but the bright future ahead, empowered by the strength of our young leaders, the vision of communities, and the legacy of ancestors.
Thank you to Mrs Katherine Maybury, Miss Ask Meagher, Mrs Jess Dodds, Mrs Tania Joes, Mr Noah Doig, Mrs Kristen Chippendale and Miss Kendall McCallum for their leadership in organizing NAIDOC Week.
Below is a list of our wonderful events for the week.
Boccia Tournament
We are incredibly proud of our students who recently represented our school at the local Boccia tournament, competing alongside students from schools across the area. Boccia is a precision ball sport designed to be inclusive for students of all abilities, and our team's participation highlights the importance of providing opportunities where every student can shine. Inclusive sporting events like this foster teamwork, resilience, and confidence, while promoting a strong sense of belonging and respect.
Congratulations to our students for their participation and team work!
Student Financial Assistance
We understand that the cost of school-related activities and items such as excursions, camps, and uniforms can place pressure on families. If you are experiencing financial difficulty, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the school. We are committed to supporting all students to access the full range of learning opportunities and may be able to offer assistance. All enquiries will be treated confidentially and with understanding.
