Hi, my name is Karyn Humble. I was born in New Zealand and did all my schooling in Palmerston North.

I am married to David and a proud mum to Carey & Chelsea as well as a nana to 2-year-old twin boys who are keeping me young. We also share our home with a very lovable French Bulldog named Chibi.

My hobbies and interests are interior decorating, cooking, making high teas, designing/sewing, cycling, gardening and taking opportunities to go on mission trips to 3rd world countries.

I’ve been an educator for 40 years; I trained to be a secondary teacher in NSW and have taught in Perth and Melbourne in the public and private sector. I am a Foods/Textiles/ Health & Humanities teacher having taught Years 7-12.

I am just a bit entrepreneurial. Two times during these years, I stepped aside from main -stream teaching and ran my own businesses. For 7 yrs I ran a children’s clothing company, Colonial kids’, where I designed clothes, made prototypes while outworkers sewed them.

These were sold to children’s wear shops Australia-wide.

I sold this business and went back to mainstream teaching for 10 yrs, completed some extra study in personal development and set up an image business for women and a teen self-image program in schools, ‘Cocoon to Butterfly’, which I ran alongside part-time teaching.

All my life jobs and experiences have helped me develop many skills that I have brought back into the classroom to enrich my teaching which has given me a strong desire to help others believe in themselves, feel free to be different and become confident human beings who strive to reach their full potential.

-Karyn Humble

Hello, I’m Sarah and I am very blessed to be a part of the team at Plenty River College as an Education Support staff member. Before starting at Plenty River College, I worked in collections on behalf of the Australian Taxation office collecting taxation debt.

I am quite passionate about helping others and seeing them succeed, not only in their education but also seeing them succeed in life. I believe that everyone has the right to learn and to have the chance to learn. Working at PRC has shown me this throughout the time I have been working here.

Outside the classroom, I’m a mum of 2 cats, Nala and Pumpkin and love to spend time with my family. I love to help where I can and love to have a chat whenever I can. I look forward to continually working at PRC and helping make a difference one day at a time.
