CHILDREN’S BOOK WEEK
Book Week was a huge success this year! In the lead-up to the week, I gave a presentation to Year 7 to 9 students during their library reading periods about the Children's Book Council of Australia and how they judge the best books for children and teenagers each year. This was followed with Teighan, our super creative library assistant, sending some mysterious cryptic messages via Compass and pasting odd posters around the school which kept students guessing, looking for clues and most importantly, reading. It was all part of her augmented reality game and students had lots of fun! On Monday at lunchtime, all was revealed and students were directed to the library office to complete the mission. Other students came in on the day to colour in bookmarks or to make zines. Teighan also made a beautiful Book Week display (with current and previous CBCA book award winners) and a gorgeous ‘Reading is Magic' photo frame, which was very popular during the Book Parade.
Tuesday was our Dress Up and Costume Parade Day - our highlight event. It was great to see so many students and staff with their colourful costumes. Well done to Layla M (Year 11), Luca M (Year 11) and Mia D (Year 9) for winning prizes for the best dressed students, thank you to Ms Lucas for hosting the event, Ms Monro for organising prizes for our winners and everyone who dressed up and had fun. Our week ended with my Book Trivia event on Wednesday (packed with questions on Australian children's books and authors) and all participants walked away with a free book and sweets. It was extra special for us as these students are our library regulars at lunchtime.

Well done to Luca M (Year 11) for starting the Film Club on Monday lunchtimes, which has proven to be very popular with students. All are welcome to attend.
