Independence Centre
Highlights
Selamat sore 3/4 families!
Thank you to those parents, carers and friends who visited this morning for our English Open Morning! How special to have you join us to see a little snapshot of what our sessions might look like.
During Week 8, the students in the Independence Centre used their growing multiplicative thinking strategies, to support their understanding and problem solving when tackling division. Students used arrays, skip counting (forwards and backwards), diagrams and our MAB materials to show and explain their thinking. Many students reflected on their learning by referring to the learning pit and we discussed how when things are challenging, we are doing the most for our brain to stretch and grow.
Students have officially chosen their own country to ‘travel’ to for the remainder of our Guided Inquiry unit. We brainstormed Success Criteria and are collaboratively determining what a ‘good’, ‘super’ and ‘fantastico’ slides presentation could include. Over the coming weeks we will be researching about the climate and landscape of those countries, as well as traditions, culture, landmarks, food and other fun information. We would encourage students to have conversations about their country at home and any extra supported research they do, will only help improve their understanding and future presentations!
Have a great week!
