Over the past two weeks, some Year 5 and Year 6 students have proudly represented St Aidan’s in the Debating Competition against St Bernard’s Botany. Debating is a fun, exciting and challenging co-curricular activity and all the students should be congratulated on their efforts to prepare for the debate and their presentation in front of an audience during the debate.
The students learnt how to structure arguments (method), develop a good understanding of general knowledge and current affairs (matter) and learnt skills on how to speak in front of an audience with limited preparation (manner).
Here are a few snapshots of the students in action!
On Tuesday 27 August, Kindergarten actively participated in the retelling of the story, Alexander’s Outing, during their exciting excursion to the Royal Botanic Gardens.
Kindergarten retraced the adventures that Alexander went on and as they walked through the gardens the students counted the birds they saw, identified shapes in the environment and compared the height and width of different trees. They also used mathematical language while re-enacting the rescuing of Alexander by using water to make him float. Kindergarten had a fantastic fun-filled day on their excursion.
Warm regards,
