2024 Schools that Excel Winner

I am pleased to announce that Macleod College is the winner of the 2024 The Age newspaper "Schools that Excel" series (Government school in Melbourne North).

Although this award is given to the school which has shown consistent improvement in their VCE results over a 10 year period, the College has made significant improvement in all areas (achievement, attendance, wellbeing and engagement) from prep to year 12.

This award is testament to the hard work and commitment of everyone at the school and it is something that we should all be proud of. A school is only as good as the people in it, and in this case, we are truly blessed!! Congratulations to everyone.

Production of the musical "Grease"

I had the pleasure of attending the opening night's performance on Wednesday 28 August of our production of the musical “Grease” and wish to extend my congratulations to all the students, staff and parents that have been involving in making the show happen.

We were treated to some wonderful singing, dancing and colourful costumes and everyone should be proud of their efforts. There were many memorable scenes, fantastic solos and entertaining dialogue although hearing the screams of absolute delight that came from behind the curtain at the end of the show demonstrated the importance of the show and just how much of themselves the students had given.

Congratulations to everyone involved!!

School Values

As part of our recent school review an agreed understanding of our school values was identified as being a significant contributor to improved engagement and wellbeing.

  • ACHIEVE- Aim high and embrace all opportunities to accomplish goals
  • RESPECT – Demonstrate care, compassion and an understanding for our community, our environment and ourselves
  • CONNECT – Demonstrate that we belong to a diverse and inspiring community and build positive relationships

Policies, processes and an extensive support network have been developed so that we can maintain these values regardless of the circumstances that we find ourselves in.Any student that may feel unsafe because others are not demonstrating these values are asked to speak to a trusted teacher, level manager or member of the wellbeing team.
